After my week at Club Med, I was planning on renting a car from Hertz onsite at Club Med, driving around Sicily for a few days then flying from Palermo airport (on the other side of Sicily) directly to Germany to meet Marisa.
On a side note....Marisa (from trapeze in NYC) has a wedding to attend in Dresden. I am meeting her so we can tour around when she's not at wedding events, then we're going to Stockholm together after Dresden.
Back to my adventure...Francisco from the excursion area of Club Med spent a lot of time helping me with my plans. He gave me local directions, places to stay, areas to visit, and wonderful restaurants. I was so excited.
I went to Hertz to rent my car and they said, "Oh no, sorry miss, we do not rent one way for drop off at Palermo. Sorry, no luck for you."
Fabulous.....ugh!!!!! No plans were out the window. Now what? Plan B...Plan B was becoming a habit now....
Francisco suggested renting a car from Ragusa. He would take me to Ragusa but he could not assure me that I could rent one way. I didn't want to waste another day so I decided to change my plans completely. All I had to do was to be in Dresden, Germany on July 5th. I had 4 days.
Where did I want to spend the 4th of July? HMMM? I decided to go back to Grado, Italy to visit my American classmates and to celebrate the 4th of July. Also, I knew where the laundromat was, and it was time to do laundry again.
So...back to Grado I went. I emailed my friends on Sunday to let them know, I called Hotel Fonzari to book a room and I booked a flight. Done! I was getting the hang of booking things last minute. I think it's more fun too! Back to Grado!
