Mark and Heather...friends from school...had a 4th of July BBQ. Yes, a real BBQ in Grado, Italy. No such thing!!!! Radu, from the hotel laughed showed him the pictures. He said, "Oh Leslie, that is so American." He loved it though. He thought it was great that we celebrated together.
Timmie, his wife Gwen, Mia, Elisa, Matt, Chris (Heather's friend from home) and I all celebrated together. Mark grilled out and had some issues with the flames while Heather cooked a lot of delicious food, Matt played the music, Timmie and Gwen made and drank yummy drinks, I laughed and did my penguin dance, Elisa (our teacher) ate American food, Chris laughed at all of us and Mia got tipsy and emotional and cried because everyone is leaving soon.
We played some drinking games, ate great American food, listened to music and laughed a lot. It was a perfect 4th of July. I truly felt like I was with great friends. We have only known each other for a month yet we have all become very close and we throughly enjoy spending time together. I could not have asked for a better 4th of July!!!!
I was leaving Grado the next day so I had to say good bye to everyone. In a few weeks, everyone will be back to "normal lives"...except Mia...she'll still be in Grado taking classes. It was goodbye to everyone for real but I have no doubt that we will all stay in touch!
