Day 6 - last day of the bike trip

Today was the last day of the bike trip. It was an amazing week. We had the option to ride today, but 98% of the group decided not to ride...Thalia (from Colorado) and I decided to ride. She's a much stronger rider than I am so I told her that she did not have to wait for me.

She and I started the day at 7:00 a.m. riding while the rest of the group slept. I wanted to ride since I did not do the entire 75 miles yesterday.

I was ready for a great last ride...that was until I sat down on my bike. OUCH!!!!! I was in pain and I was seriously considering getting off my bike and going back to sleep. That crossed my mind for one second then I started the ride.

Of course Mary and Ryon, our leaders, were waiting for us at 7:00 a.m. with snacks. I felt bad making them get up early.

Thalia and I took off...she was being nice and rode with me for a little bit then I told her just to go, and she did. She was gone! She's unbelieveable. I rode and had a great ride until the half way mark...I approached the huge, steep uphill with major turns. Mary and Ryon...this was not on the directions!!! Thank goodness I had one last gear. I found it - I was so happy. I was thinking of everyone else still sleeping. So envious. I was sweating and was in pain. Thalia was long gone - she was probably back at the hotel already. HA!

I made it - I got to the top! Not once, the entire week, did I walk my bike uphill, never. I rode the entire time. When I got to the top, I saw Mary in the van and I was so happy I wanted to cry. I jumped up and down (off of my bike) and said, "Yeah, let me in the van! I'm so happy to see you."

I was done. My legs were sore, my knee was starting to hurt and don't even ask about my butt. OUCH!!!!!

I did it, I rode for 6 days straight. After not being on a bike for 10 years, I really did it. It was a fabulous, amazing week. It was not easy, it was really hard, but I loved every minute of it. I would do it again in a second...only after my body recovers.

Thank you to everyone for your support, encouragement and pointers!
