Florence - Friday, May 25

I didn't go for a run this morning because I signed up for another tour...yes, I sure did. This one was called "A perfect morning in Tuscany" and it left Florence at 8:30 a.m. It began with a bus ride to a hill top town, Fiesole. We then hiked through the hills, olive groves and cypress woods for about 2 hours and learned about the history of the town, even saw the spot where Leonardo da Vinci tested his historic flying machine. In addition, we had some amazing views of Florence from way above the city. My tour guide was Stefan, he was a riot!

After our hike we had lunch at a private Renaissance Villa. This villa was featured in "A Room with a View" and "Tea with Mussolini".

Of course, I met some great people on this tour. There were no annoying people on this tour. yeah!

I met Kari and her mom, Maurie. Kari was studying abroad and gave me great suggestions of places to visit in Europe. Her mom, Maurie, was traveling with her and never thought she could do this hike, but she did it. I'll post a picture of them so she can prove to her husband she did the entire hike and did it well! I really enjoyed talking to them.

I also met Sandy and Hannah, from Scotland. They were on their honeymoon. Very nice couple, funny too. I'll visit them when I go to Scotland. Sandy was very nice and carried Hannah's PINK backpack the entire way. Of course, I teased him about his pink man purse. They both had a great sense of humor. I was excited for some dry wit - the Italians don't really get my humor. I didn't even dare try. I have behaved myself the entire time!

After my hike, believe it or not, I went to a gym so I could get on a bike to pretend to train for my bike trip coming up. I don't bike and I have no idea if I'll be able to do this trip but I rode the bike for a while then of course went out to dinner for more pasta and meat. I'm not sure I'll do so well on my bike trip. Oh well!
