Darren and me skiing!!!

Darren, my first new friend in Aspen, and I went skiing yesterday. It was a great morning! Darren was working as a Concierge when I started at The Sky. We worked together but then he took another job. I swear I didn't do anything to make him leave. I promise!

Darren and I are still good pals...even though we don't work together anymore. I'm sure he misses me a lot. HA!

Some lessons learned!

It's been a while since I wrote any lessons learned....hmmm???....let's think.....

1. The snow doesn't stop!

2. When it's sunny in Aspen, it's really warm. You can walk around without a jacket. It may be 45 and sunny, but it feels much warmer. It's awesome!

3. People wear shorts around town when the temperature is above 40.

4. Apply A LOT of sunscreen when skiing or else you'll get a "goggle" sunburnt face. Right Stacey and Adam? HA!!!! They did not apply enough and got completely sunburnt. Stacey's face is peeling now. I'm sure it looks pretty. HA! Sorry Stacey - had to write about it!

5. You can always do one more run.....even if you're tired....you can always do one more!

6. Bumps and powder can be fun (and funny)!

7. I really enjoy my job! A lot! I really enjoy the people I work with too. We have a great time, even when it's crazy busy!! We laugh a lot!

Oh, I forgot to mention...I won "Employee of the Month" for March. Yeah for me. Funny! Lynne, stop laughing!

8. Restaurants are just as expensive in Aspen as they are in NYC.

9. No one is stressed in Aspen....except for some of the tourists. Not sure why....they're on vacation.

10. Aspen gets huge slush puddles!!

11. The weather can change in a minute. One minute, it can be sunny and then one minute later, a huge snow storm will come. So weird.

12. The snow is really light so it's easy to clean of your car.

13. Always dress in layers....when skiing and even when just going out. Be prepared for any type of weather.

14. It's gorgeous out here!

15. I still get tipsy quickly out here. I'm still not used to the altitude. It's annoying. I like to drink more than I can out here. (no Ma, I don't have a problem, I promise)

16. I looking forward to visiting my sister in Venice Beach and everyone in NYC during the off season. I also think I'll be excited to come back to Aspen for the spring and summer.

17. To those friends whom wanted to visit this winter, but couldn't, start looking for flights for the summer! Get ready for some fun in NYC in May! See you soon!

Some pretty pictures from another snow...March 20th! Can you see the gondola in between the branches? Cool, huh?!

Skiing Aspen Mountain and Highlands with Stacey and Adam!

Pinecreek Cookhouse Dinner with Stacey, Adam, Sue and Dick

One night, we went to Pinecreek Cookhouse for dinner. To get to the dinner, you can either take a horse drawn sleigh or you can cross country ski. We opted for the sleigh. Here are some pics! (oh, I made some new friends next to me on the sleigh) I need to get some of Stacey's pictures so I can add a few pictures of Sue & Dick!

Stacey, Adam and Adam's parents (Sue & Dick) come for a vist!

My good friend Stacey (from VA) and her fiance, Adam, and Adam's parents all came to Aspen for a long weekend. It was the first visit to Aspen for all of them.

I played "concierge" for the weekend. I booked yummy dinners and of course skiing (with apres ski)!

It was a great weekend!

Lunar Eclipse!

I was walking home from work and saw the eclipse. It was amazing!

Jackie and me - the 2 Sky Concierges!

Jackie is the other concierge. We have become good friends and laugh a lot together. Work can be a bit crazy at times, but we always have to smile and make sure the guests are happy.

This is Jackie and me!

Pictures from Tracy's 40th Birthday Party!

Celebrating Tracy's 40th!

Tracy turned 40 on March 2! Jeff threw her a party at Riverside Grill in Basalt. Basalt is about 30 minutes from Aspen. The party was a huge success. Friends from NYC and all over Aspen came to celebrate with Tracy!

Lisa and Serita came in from NYC to celebrate! During their visit, we skied in a huge snow storm (very funny), went to apres ski for a few drinks, enjoyed nice dinners and of course celebrated Tracy's 40th!

Liz and I decorated our little, private area in the restaurant. Tracy was very happy. It was a great 40th!

Great party Jeff! Happy 40th Tracy!

Pictures of dinner at Scott and Jen's!

Sitting back and drinking wine!!!!!

Scott and Jen are friends of Tracy and Jeff's. They made me feel at home right away. They always invite me over for dinner when they invite Tracy and Jeff. If they don't invite me, I just invite myself.

They are amazing chefs! I just sit back and watch them cook. I drink wine as I watch. Tracy and Jeff are also amazing chefs! The 4 of them cook and I drink wine! Well actually...I do the dishes after the delicious dinner. I'm a good dishwasher. (most of my friends know that from my Citi days when I was the official dishwasher during the Masters).

One time Scott and Jen actually said I could bring something. They asked me to bring a flank steak. I was so excited that they asked me to do something. I went to the grocery store to buy a flank steak. The steaks looked little so I bought 2. There were going to be 6 for dinner.

When I got to Scott and Jen's, Scott as me why I bought 2 and I told him because they looked little. He then showed me that when you take the flank steak out of its package, it unfolds. It's folded in thirds in the package. I was amazed!!! Did all of you know that? WOW! I didn't need to buy 2 steaks after all. One steak was plenty for the 6 of us.

Maybe this is the reason, they cook and I watch while drinking wine!

Erin (Erron) from Citi visits!

Hi - Erron was in town, with Sylvia, working an event so of course we had to go out and play before the event started. We had some fun, you could say! Lots of drinks, food and laughs. Erron made a new friend. We call him UPS....because he works for UPS.

I don't have any pictures of Sylvia, only of Erron and UPS! It was a great time!

Pictures of my new friends Patrick and Timothy!

My new friends...Patrick and Timothy!

One day when I was working quietly in my little concierge office (an old coat check closet), when I received an email from Patrick. I thought to myself, "Who is this guy emailing me?" Well it turns out that he is a "big wig" for Kimpton Hotels based out of NYC (The Sky Hotel is a Kimpton Hotel) and he was coming to stay at The Sky. I helped him with some restaurants, Aspen sites, ski lessons and othe random Aspen things to do.

Patrick and I emailed a lot and quickly became friends. He had (and still does have) a very dry wit and everyone knows I love a dry wit. We made each other laugh a lot over email and over the phone. He was my new friend. Patrick was coming to Aspen with Timothy. They were very excited for a great vacation. I couldn't wait to meet the both of them.

I met Patrick and Timothy for the first time at Campo di Fiori and we were immediately new pals. I went to dinner with them the next night and probably talked to them at least 5 times a day when they were staying in the hotel. They had a fabulous vacation and they are now "stuck" with me as a new friend. I can't wait to hang out with them in NYC when I visit. Get ready Patrick and Timothy...I'll be in NYC soon!
